Across the River Transboundary Project

The Across the River Transboundary Project (ARTP) was a 4-year, EU-funded project to secure the long-term conservation of the Gola Forest - both in Liberia and Sierra Leone.  A major component of the project - illustrated in the photos above - was the establishment of joint Peace Park straddling the border between Sierra Leone and Liberia.

Other components of the project included the management of 50,000 ha of forest corridor, community livelihoods improvement, scientific and social research, implementation of carbon financing, and the strengthening of forest laws and policies in both countries.
